Calvary Baptist Church was founded in 1957. The first public meetings were held in the Masonic Lodge just down the street in Bay Shore. As the church grew, land was purchased and an auditorium built. Later, an addition added more Sunday School classes and a Fellowship Hall, and resulted in the structure you see today. Since those early days, hundreds of people have made Calvary Baptist their church home. Parents have raised their families here; youth have come into their own genuine relationship with God; grandparents have transitioned into their senior years with grace from Above; and all have discovered Calvary Baptist to be a place to be loved, and a place to belong. Many have moved on: retirement, job transfers, marriage, and, some to be with the Lord. But the church has not moved from it's foundation: that is Jesus Christ. The witness of the church continues to shine in the community. The Word of God continues to be treasured and taught. Believers continue to be built up in the Faith. And people from all walks of life continue to find Calvary Baptist to be a Beacon of Truth and a Haven of Rest. Many call it home.

At Calvary Baptist, we're a family!

Kids are taught from childhood that God loves them, and are trained in how they can love and follow Him. Different backgrounds and cultures are assets to the church body: we are many yet we are one in Christ. Our teens meet weekly and have a good schedule of various activities.

Our Church's worship service starts at 11:00 Sunday morning.   We have a Sunday School with classes for all ages starting at 9:45.  On Sunday night, beginning at 6:00, we have a one-hour service.   This time together includes Bible study, singing, and testimonies, and sometimes even a meal. Solid biblical teaching is our trademark!  We have a youth program for grades K-12 every Wednesday evening from 7-8:00.   In addition, the middle school and high school kids have their own age-specific activities each month.   Adults attend prayer meeting on Wednesday's at 7:00 p.m. One Sunday a month, we have a church-wide activity after the morning worship hour:  First eating together and then enjoying the chance for fellowship.   The folks here love the Lord, and it shows in the way they love one another.

There are ladies' activities during the week: a Bible study group, a missionary group, and more.  Calvary Baptist supports eight missionaries from China to the Bronx, as well as special missions projects throughout the year.
